Edina, MN (Minneapolis/Saint Paul area) — Clinical Research Coordinator

This position is an entry to mid-level clinical research position that will assist with clinical study planning and execution; will also assist in ensuring that Tornier sponsored/supported studies adhere to regulatory and ethical standards.

 

Job Summary:
 
This position is an entry to mid-level clinical research position that will assist with clinical study planning and execution; will also assist in ensuring that Tornier sponsored/supported studies adhere to regulatory and ethical standards.
 
Key responsibilities:
                                  
  • Prepares and reviews study specific documents such as site Regulatory documents, protocols, informed consents, case report forms and IRB submissions;
  • Prepares and distributes site study materials;
  • Conducts clinical study data analyses to support physician initiated research and publications;
  • Assists US investigators with compliance and adherence to regulatory requirements and discrepancy reporting/resolution;
  • Conduct site visits as required – pre-study, initiation, interim, and close-out visits including site visit reports;
  • Conducts literature searches and assists with preparation of clinical evidence reports;
  • Reviews clinical data and conducts data queries;
  • Assists with developing and testing of Simpliciti database;
  • Assists in preparing reimbursement reports and check requests;
  • Assists with filing of clinical documents, recordkeeping and supplies;
  • Follow ups with sites on progress and study needs
  • Assists Clinical and Regulatory Teams with Administrative tasks as needed
  • Screens mail, phone calls, e-mail and faxes as needed
  • Support the coordination of travel, assist in the day to day task of watching travel costs
  • Oversees calendars; Provide a calendar synchronization of who is traveling where
  • Handle confidential and non-routine information.
  • Participate in training as required
  • Additional tasks may be added based on training and qualifications
 
Skills and Educational Requirements:
 
  • Biology or medical background (preferred)
  • Finance background (preferred)
  • Knowledge of clinical research (preferred)
  • Strong communications skills (both written and oral in English)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision

Essential Job Functions:
   Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
   Schedules, leads and documents meeting minutes and action items of project core team meetings.
   Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; assigning core team members to phases and elements.
   Determines project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates.
   Confirms product performance by designing and conducting tests.

   Prior project management experience required
   Experience in medical equipment industry desirable
   Strong communication and interaction skills with the ability to interface with surgeons and sales/marketing personnel
   Demonstrated creative design ability
   Demonstrated success in bringing multiple products from design through introduction on time

Essential Job Functions:

   Reporting and analysis of incurred manufacturing and other operating costs vs budget and forecast

   Preparation and analysis of monthly management reports of gross margins (at standard and other period costs), inventory, and surgical instrument capital expenditures

   Analysis of excess and obsolete inventory on a monthly and quarterly basis

   Maintenance and analysis of global standard costs to ensure consistency among multiple inventory management platforms

   Analysis of intercompany profit in inventory

   Analysis of product sourcing decision and related impact on gross margins

   Assist in the improvement of processes for forecasting and reporting gross margin, inventory, and capital expenditures

   Support supply chain executives in the development and analysis of business plans

   Provide ad hoc financial analyses as requested

Skills & Education Requirements:

 

   Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

   4+ years’ experience in cost accounting/analysis or financial analysis

   Industry experience required.  Experience with publicly-traded, global manufacturing organizations preferred

   Ability to manage multiple projects with occasional short deadlines

The Product Manager Position will have complete upstream and downstream responsibility for assigned products.

 

Key responsibilities:
                                              
·         Create world-class marketing programs to successfully manage existing products and launch new products and product extensions. Duties include developing marketing and sales tools and content for brochures, whitepapers, case studies, videos, animations, advertisements, eNewsletters and sales and physician Web portals as well as planning and executing Limited User Release/Controlled Release programs, developing launch kits and executing Sales/Physician product training programs.
 
·         Build strong relationships with physicians to transition existing Tornier shoulder customers to Sports Medicine products by assisting in OR training, planning and attending product workshops, mobile labs, KOL events, roundtable discussions, etc. to build brand exposure and adoption.
 
·         Partner with sales leaders and distributors to create programs and tools that support sales objectives and ensure the sales teams understand each product’s capabilities and advantages and are prepared and motivated to sell. Demonstrate a “Field Focused” style by co-traveling with reps, attending and participating in training workshops, mobile labs, tradeshows, industry meetings, etc.
 
·         Develop long and short term marketing strategies that drive revenue and support the Sports Medicine group and overall company’s strategic objectives.
 
·         Partner with physicians and marketing and R&D team members on upstream marketing activities including idea discovery/ideation, prototyping, cadaver labs and drive Gate Review presentations for new products.
 
·         Partner with other functional areas of Tornier to develop a strong understanding of the targeted markets and successfully drive strategies to maximize market penetration, including R&D, Sales, Legal, Finance, clinical, regulatory, supply chain, etc.
 
·         Manage the S&OP process, sample inventory and conduct on-going sales and competitor analysis for assigned products.
 
·         Other duties as assigned.
 
Experience, Skills and Educational Requirements:
 
·         Bachelors Degree, Masters preferred.
·         Minimum 5 years of orthopedic medical device experience; sports medicine experience a plus
·         Sales experience preferred
·         Experience in a fast-paced company
·         Strong upstream and downstream marketing experience; both strong downstream marketing experience will be considered.
­    Upstream experience should include gathering customer design inputs, developing prototypes, executing product tests, evaluating cadaver lab/biomechanical study results, developing forecasts, identifying targeted markets, developing business, marketing and product launch plans, driving Gate Review presentations, etc. The experience should include both new product development and modification of existing products
­    Downstream experience should include developing and executing sales, educational and promotional tools, sales, market and competitor analysis, S&OP management, sales education and training, physician education and training including designing and executing Limited User Releases/Controlled Releases of new products, KOL panels, advisory boards, events, roundtables, participation in trade shows and developing KOLs to share desired messages from the podium.
·         Experience leading and/or participating on product teams is required.
·         Experience successfully commercializing a minimum of two products is required. 
·         Experience successfully partnering with cross-functional groups within the organization including R&D, sales, legal, regulatory, clinical, finance, supply chain, etc. is required.
·         Experience and/or willingness to travel 25%-45% annually is required
